It is a requirement for Poway Unified School District (PUSD) to provide United States (US) history instruction to all students during the course of their education that meets or exceeds the California content standards and framework. But, are all PUSD teachers meeting standards and providing adequate instructional materials for students to build on basic US history knowledge?
Let’s take a look at the US History II content that has been provided to some 11th-grade Del Norte High School (DNHS) students after they are asked to share their name and pronouns, share their feelings, and told they have no homework and that classwork isn’t graded.

According to the CA History Social Science (HSS) framework, a question that can frame 11th-grade US History content (late 19th century-present day) for students to examine is: What does it mean to be an American in modern times? But why is there such a significant focus on hate?

Are all PUSD US History II teachers promoting an unbalanced historical perspective and discriminatory bias in the classroom, or certain activist teachers?
